Indulgent Opulence Unveiled: A Detailed Exploration of the Historic Hotel Kämp Helsinki - An Exclusive Review

Welcome to my review of Hotel Kämp; a stunning 5-star hotel located in central Helsinki. Being part of Leading Hotels of the World, a favourite collection of mine, and realising where it was located as well as having a spa, that made me sold on where we should book for our stay in Finland’s capital city.

We decided to visit Hotel Kämp as part of a trip to visit Finnish Lapland in the north, and it made sense to either tie in a visit to the capital as well, at the start or finish of the trip. As worked out best with the direct flights from Scotland with Finnair, we started off with five nights in Helsinki, before taking the overnight train up to Rovaniemi in the north.

The Savoy Hotel: A Guide to the London Luxury Landmark

Welcome to my review of The Savoy London; a stunning 5-star hotel located on the Strand. The location was marvellous, the restaurant options fantastic and the accommodation itself was some of the best that we have experienced when staying in the capital city.

We decided to visit The Savoy as it’s somewhere that has been on my list for such a long time. We had been before to the American Bar and the River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay, when staying in the nearby One Aldwych (a Leading Hotels of the World property) but never stayed. Having booked to see A Little Life (with James Norton) on its last night of the run at The Savoy Theatre (literally adjacent) it seemed like this was the time to stay.

Elevating Hospitality: Four Seasons The Westcliff, Johannesburg

Step into a realm of unparalleled luxury and refinement at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg. Prepare for an extraordinary stay filled with elegance and impeccable service.

We decided to visit the Four Seasons in Johannesburg, having this as the last stop of a three country, four hotel holiday over Christmas and New Year 2023. We’d flown initially with Qatar Airways direct to Zanzibar, staying in two locations (Park Hyatt Zanzibar Stone Town then Xanadu Dongwe), before flying onto Mauritius (The Oberoi Mauritius). From there, we flew back to JNB with Air Mauritius, to enjoy the last few days in South Africa, and to celebrate the New Year. We’ve stayed in Joburg before, but not at the Four Seasons (albeit many other FS hotels in other locations throughout the world), but it’s always somewhere I wanted to try, especially having tried out The Saxon Hotel & Spa on our last visit.

Xanadu Luxury Villas Zanzibar: Exquisite Tales from Zanzibar's Villa Haven – The Private Traveller's Guide

Welcome to my review of The Xanadu Luxury Villa Resort; A stunning small resort located in Dongwe on the East coast of Zanzibar. The location was just exceptional on an incredible beach where it felt you could walk for miles in either direction and just marvel at the Indian Ocean. With only 9 villas, all with private pools, and it being very quiet when we were there just before Christmas, this really was just such a magical find and a really good two-centre with Stone Town.

Park Hyatt Zanzibar: Exploring the Charms of Park Hyatt Zanzibar in Stone Town.

Welcome to my review of The Park Hyatt Hotel; A centrally located 5-star hotel located in Stone Town on the Unguja island of Zanzibar. The location was great, the local food was fantastic and the suite accommodation was excellent. A really great choice.

We decided to visit the Park Hyatt Zanzibar, wanting a few days on our arrival on the main island in or near Stone Town for exploring, before going onto a beach destination.

The Adria: A Comprehensive Guide to Staying in One of London’s Boutique Luxury Townhouses

Stepping into the Adria Hotel in London is like embarking on a luxurious journey through time and elegance, where every moment promises comfort, charm, and an unforgettable experience. This is my review of The Adria Hotel; a stunning 19th Century 5-star townhouse boutique hotel located in South Kensington, London. The location was good and the townhouse afforded a small boutique atmosphere with only 24 rooms and suites across the upper four levels of this white painted Georgian house.t

Timeless Elegance: The Beaumont London - a Luxury London Art Deco Hotel

In this review of The Beaumont Hotel in London, I’ll detail my experience of the location, the restaurants, and of course the accommodation and facilities at the hotel itself. Read below to find out everything you need to know before your next trip to London.

I’m a huge Agatha Christie fan, and by inference (Hercule) Poirot so when I found about The Beaumont and its perfectly central location and, probably more importantly, its unique Art Deco design, I knew I had to visit. You could easily be mistaken by thinking this was a very old hotel, but in fact it only opened in 2014. Such an amazing stay, and somewhere I definitely want to revisit.

Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon: A Comprehensive Guide to a Luxurious Stay in Portugal’s Capital City.

Welcome to my review of The Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon; a stunning 5-star hotel located in the capital city. The location was great (I’d say extremely central, if not necessarily in the centre itself), the food fantastic and the accommodation itself was definitely top notch understated luxury.

We decided to visit Lisbon as the first stop on my first ever trip to Portugal, and although I’d looked at a few options (albeit in advance of seeing the Netflix series The Reluctant Traveller where Eugene Levy stayed at the Verride Palacio de Santa Catarina) the Four Seasons was the place I wanted to stay. I booked through Classic Travel and this gave us benefits like complementary breakfast, and upgrade on arrival (which we got) and a $100 credit which was deducted from spa treatments (could also have been on dining too).

The Marquesa Hotel: A Comprehensive Guide to Staying in Key West, Florida.

With Key West not having any of our usual ‘go-to’ properties like Leading Hotels of the World, Virtuoso etc. I soon spotted the Marquesa and on further investigation decided that this would be the place for us. The choice of accommodations and locale appealed, as did realising that the newer Marquesa 4-1-4 building had the premier suites which seemed to give us the sort of accommodation that we were looking for.

In this review of the Marquesa Hotel, I’ll detail our experience of the location, local activities, the best restaurants in town and of course, the accommodation and facilities at the hotel itself. Read below to find out everything you need to know before your next trip to Florida.

The Nellie: Belmond’s Luxury Hillside Hotel in Cape Town

Described as the beating heart of cultural Cape Town, the Belmond Mount Nelson is a fantastic hotel with amazing history (originally opened in 1899), in such a good location. I’d visited before a couple of times as it is such an iconic Cape Town institution (read on about the afternoon teas at ‘The Nellie’) but had never stayed. Having identified a few years ago that I would stay on the next trip, we’d booked a few days at the start of a long South Africa trip, and one of two stops in Cape Town (the second hotel would be The Royal Portfolio’s The Silo).

Nayara Hangaroa, Easter Island: A Comprehensive Guide to Staying in One of the World’s Remotest Locations.

Easter Island had been on my radar for some time, so I was absolutely thrilled to finally get there, albeit with three years of Covid disruption. Chile only reopened for tourism in 2022, and Easter Island remained closed even beyond the rest of the country resuming visitors. Originally we had been booked twice at Explora Rapa Nui, the other highest standard resort on the island, but for this trip we changed it to Nayara Hangaroa (part of Leading Hotels of the World, and sister property to Nayara Alto Atacama) and we were not disappointed. Explora is definitely much more remote with a fantastic outlook too on the other side of the island, and I’m sure would have been a wonderful alternative and perhaps somewhere to visit if we ever do make it back to Easter Island again.

Chile’s Atacama Desert: An Escape to Nayara’s Atacama Oasis

Originally opened as Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa by Tánica Hotels, but now looked after by Nayara Resorts since 2020, this is a luxury lodge in the heart of the Atacama Desert. With a focus on sustainability and nature, we enjoyed 4 nights here (3 full days) taking part in many nearby activities; whilst also enjoying relaxation time in our suite (both open-view front terrace and enclosed rear terrace with stunning mountain top views) and in their Puri Spa with a selection of treatments and water experiences.
