Mount Cinnamon, Grenada: A Boutique Hideaway Above Grand Anse
I thought I’d have stopped writing about how Covid affected our travels by now — but here we are. This hotel review of Mount Cinnamon on the Caribbean island of Grenada was originally published on my previous website, but it didn’t transfer across when the new version of the site launched. So let’s rewind for a moment...
Grenada wasn’t somewhere I’d visited before, and we originally booked it as a standalone trip with Virgin Atlantic — also a chance to fly with them again after some time. When travel restrictions forced us to cancel, we were given a voucher for the flights. Fast forward to when we could finally rebook, and that voucher ended up covering just a fraction of the new fare. Return Upper Class flights from Heathrow to Grenada had risen significantly.
Villas nestled in the hills above Mount Cinnamon – a serene Caribbean setting.
Since our visit, further improvements have been made at Mount Cinnamon, including updates to the pool area, the shop, the restaurant, and the poolside bar. A new coffee shop is also set to open, adding even more charm to this boutique beachfront resort.
A Detour via the Florida Keys
To make the most of what remained of the voucher, I rerouted the plan slightly. We flew with Virgin Atlantic from London to Miami — a nice excuse to explore the Florida Keys, which had been on my list for a while — and then continued onwards to Grenada with American Airlines. I didn’t do a full flight review this time, but in brief: the outbound service was excellent; the return was a bit lacklustre.
Our original idea had been to stay in three different properties across Grenada, but in the end we streamlined the trip. We began with a stay at Mount Cinnamon, followed by a few days at Calabash. We also visited Silversands Grenada for a guided tour and dinner, which turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of the trip.
Situated on the pristine Grand Anse Beach, Silversands has made a name for itself not only for its striking architecture and amenities but also as a filming location. It was the primary setting for ITV’s The Fortune Hotel, hosted by Stephen Mangan — a glossy reality competition series featuring ten pairs competing for a £250,000 prize. While other parts of Grenada featured, the show was largely centred around Silversands, and you can see why. Its 100-metre infinity pool — said to be the longest in the Caribbean — is a showstopper in itself.
Arrival into the Caribbean – that first glimpse of paradise from above.

Facilities & Service at Mount Cinnamon
Relaxed hillside luxury with thoughtful touches and scenic comforts
Mount Cinnamon may be a boutique resort, but it offers a well-rounded mix of comfort, charm, and Caribbean hospitality. From hillside villas with sweeping sea views to relaxed dining and personalised service, the experience feels intimate yet complete. Here's a closer look at our suite and the facilities we enjoyed during our stay.
I’ve broken down the key facilities and services we experienced during our stay — along with a few personal impressions:
Our Cinnamon Suite:
We stayed in one of the newly refurbished Cinnamon Suites, located near the top of the resort. The hillside location gave us beautiful views across the bay and beach, best enjoyed from the walk-out balcony with comfortable seating. The open-plan layout included a bedroom area with floor-to-ceiling windows, a living space with a large TV, and thoughtful in-room touches like a mini fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities. It was a great space to return to after days out exploring.
Levels of Comfort:
Overall, the suite was spotless and very comfortable — relaxed Caribbean styling with modern updates. One minor note: while toiletries were branded Gilchrist & Soames, I wasn’t entirely sure they were original and not refilled — a small detail, but worth mentioning.
Bathroom:
The bathroom was modern and well laid out, with a single sink, generous vanity space, and an open walk-in shower. A separate WC added a bit of extra convenience. The setup was simple but stylish, and easy to use.
Breakfast:
Breakfast was served at the main restaurant, which overlooks the gardens and down toward the beach — a lovely setting to start the day. The offering was a mix of à la carte service and a small self-serve buffet, with fresh fruit, pastries, and hot dishes. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the quality was consistently good.
Grand Anse Beach stretches into the distance – a picture-perfect view from Mount Cinnamon.
Restaurants & Bars at Mount Cinnamon:
Fresh, local flavours served with sea views and island soul
The inviting bar at Savvy’s – casual elegance meets Caribbean charm.
Dining at Mount Cinnamon is all about laid-back elegance and locally sourced ingredients. Savvy’s Restaurant offers refined Caribbean cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal produce, tropical fruits, and freshly caught seafood — all enjoyed with sweeping views over Grand Anse Bay. Down on the beach, the Beach Cabana brings barefoot dining to life with wood-fired grills, signature rum cocktails, and relaxed lunches just steps from the sea. Whether you’re dressing up for dinner or drifting in from the shore, dining here always feels easy, fresh, and authentic.
Wellness & Fitness:
Beachfront tranquillity and barefoot wellbeing in the heart of Grenada
Stay active in paradise – Mount Cinnamon’s boutique gym features Peloton bikes and free weights.
Wellness at Mount Cinnamon is rooted in nature, simplicity, and a gentle island rhythm. The Cinnamon Spa offers a calming escape just steps from the beach, where treatments use locally inspired ingredients and ocean breezes set the tone for relaxation. Guests can enjoy open-air massages, rejuvenating facials, or a post-swim reflexology session beneath swaying palms. For those looking to stay active, sunrise yoga sessions on the bluff, paddleboarding in the bay, and guided hikes through lush tropical trails offer the perfect blend of movement and mindfulness.
Design & Architecture:
Laid-back Caribbean charm meets colourful hillside elegance
Mount Cinnamon blends bold island character with relaxed luxury. Perched above Grand Anse Beach, the resort’s design draws on tropical colonial influences — whitewashed walls, arched verandas, and locally crafted furnishings brought to life with vibrant pops of Caribbean colour. Each suite and villa offers expansive terraces, framed by lush greenery and sea views, creating a sense of spacious, barefoot luxury throughout the hillside retreat.

What about the Grenada Location?
Peaceful Island Living with Easy Access to Adventure
Grenada feels like one of the Caribbean’s best-kept secrets — lush, authentic, and wonderfully laid-back. Mount Cinnamon is set just above Grand Anse Beach, one of the island’s most celebrated stretches of sand, with soft white shores and calm turquoise waters perfect for swimming or paddleboarding. The resort’s hillside setting means you're tucked away in peaceful surroundings, yet just a short drive from St. George’s, the island’s charming and colourful capital. It’s a great base for exploring Grenada’s mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and local flavour — whether you're heading out to visit spice estates, waterfalls, or the island’s famous underwater sculpture park.

Highlights of our stay:
There were so many highlights of the stay at the but here are just a few of the key points, which I hope you find a useful summary.
Booking a private jet arrival experience at Maurice Bishop International Airport - made for a seamless arrival
Location - great central location for the hotel
Casual ambience around the resort - nice and relaxing
The views from our Hacienda Suite - high up (see below for the negative) but amazing having the expansive views across the Grand Anse Beach
It can be great when a hotel or resort is right on the beach, but although this wasn’t, having the private beach in front of the hotel (and gardens/lawn on the slope down) made for a good combination
The staff - such a welcome arrival, and throughout
Spa - I had a massage on the beach, really excellent
Areas for improvement:
Wherever we stay, I always try to focus on the positives — but occasionally there are small details that, for me personally, could have made the experience even better.
At Mount Cinnamon, there’s not much I’d change. However, do be aware that the resort is built into a hillside, and some suites are a steep walk up. That said, transport was always available when we needed a lift back to the villa.
One small note: the Gilchrist & Soames amenities may not have been in their original form — the shampoo and shower gel didn’t feel quite like the genuine product. A minor detail, but something I noticed.
Would I Stay Here Again?
I wouldn’t have hesitated, other than we’ve been to Grenada and I think if we were to revisit, I would want to stay somewhere else, only for the reason of having a change. If something changed within the resort it would definitely be somewhere I would go back to to check out the new experience.
Soak in the natural beauty of Grenada's untouched beaches-where lush jungle meets crystal-clear Caribbean waters.
My final thoughts on the Mount Cinnamon, Grenada:
Mount Cinnamon offers a relaxed, low-key kind of luxury — the kind that makes you slow down, take in the views, and savour island life at your own pace. From its hillside villas and friendly service to its prime Grand Anse location, it’s a warm and welcoming base for discovering everything Grenada has to offer.
