Dining & Onboard Life
A more relaxed, flexible approach to life at sea
Dining and life on board Explora Journeys are designed to feel intuitive and unstructured - closer to a luxury hotel experience than a traditional cruise. There are no fixed dining times, no formal dress codes, and no rigid daily schedules, allowing you to shape each day as you wish.
Across the ship, a collection of restaurants offers a variety of cuisines, with the emphasis on quality, flexibility and atmosphere rather than formality. You can dine when and where you choose, whether that’s a more refined setting in the evening or something lighter and more relaxed during the day.
Beyond dining, the overall pace on board is noticeably calmer. Public spaces are thoughtfully designed, with a strong focus on light, space and comfort. Rather than large-scale entertainment or busy programmes, the experience leans towards quieter moments - whether that’s time by the pool, in one of the lounges, or simply enjoying the journey at sea.
Wellness also plays a key role, with spa facilities, fitness spaces and open-air areas integrated naturally into the ship’s design. The result is an environment that encourages you to slow down, rather than fill every moment.
Dining on Explora III - A Closer Look
As an example of how this comes together, Explora III - the ship I’ll be experiencing for the first time - features a diverse and thoughtfully curated collection of dining venues.
These include:
– Anthology – a fine dining experience with guest chefs and a more elevated, tasting-style approach
– Marble & Co. Grill – a contemporary steakhouse focusing on high-quality cuts and classic dishes
– Sakura – pan-Asian cuisine with a refined, modern feel
– Med Yacht Club – Mediterranean-inspired dining with a relaxed, coastal atmosphere
– Emporium Marketplace – a more informal, all-day dining space with multiple cuisines
– Fil Rouge – international cuisine in a more traditional restaurant setting
Alongside these, there are a number of bars, lounges and in-suite dining options, allowing for a more flexible approach depending on the time of day and mood.
This is the journey I’ll be experiencing first with Explora, so I’ll be able to share a more detailed, first-hand perspective following that sailing.
A Different Rhythm at Sea
What sets Explora apart is the absence of structure. There is no pressure to follow a schedule or plan your day around fixed events - instead, the experience is shaped by where you are and how you choose to spend your time.
For many, this is what defines Explora Journeys: a quieter, more considered way to travel, where the ship becomes a place to unwind as much as the destinations themselves.
