Capella Hotels first came to my notice when they used to operate the Capella Pedregal resort in Cabo, Mexico. Capella is a small chain (which also incorporates the Patina brand) across mainly the Far East and Maldives and as soon as I saw the tented experience becoming featured at Capella Ubud I knew it was somewhere I wanted to visit.

Having been to Santorini before, we knew we would want to stay again at Oia, and after investigating a few options decided to book the Andronis Boutique Hotel, more on this in a separate review.

Recognised as the most exclusive beach resort in Brazil, Ponta dos Ganchos is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World portfolio. The bungalows are carefully distributed throughout the resort on a private peninsula surrounded by two working fishing villages and an emerald sea. Privacy and comfort assures guests a unique stay.

When staying at the Constance Hotels property (Lemuria in the Seychelles) and I spotted Constance Tsarabanjina in Madagascar, I knew that we had to visit this country. To be honest I didn’t know that much about Madagascar (not having seen the cartoon films, not that they are necessarily representative as you might imagine of what Madagascar is like). Having stayed in Palm Springs before, this time we were looking to try a different property and I was attracted to La Serena Villas; not only because of the high rating on TripAdvisor (as I write #8 out of 78 hotels in Palm Springs) but also the very central location.

Constance Tsarabanjina, part of Mauritian based Constance Group, was a wonderful “get away from it all” private island, with only 25 individual extremely well-appointed bungalows spread across two beaches, North and South.  We were lucky enough to have Villa 14.
